My room mate has a C: and an E: drive, and he has w2k pro on the C:, and he got bored and decided to try XP Pro and put it on the E:.

Now we all know that when starting up the machine its going to ask which o/s to boot to when they are both on the machine.

He formatted the E: drive and he thought it would also remove the option to boot to that drive as well (i knew otherwise).

Now my question, what needs to be done to take the boot to XP Pro option out of the start up? So it just boots to the W2k Pro?

IIRC its not possible, but its been 2 years or so since I graduated from college :p

thx guys.

Go to a command prompt and type "fdisk /mbr". This should work in Windows 2000.

If not you can boot off of the XP CD and then you can use the fdisk and make a new boot path. (Correct me if i am wrong).

in 2000, go to run, type notepad boot.ini, and remove the XP entry.

Simplest answer i have.
