Default proxy server and Firefox

Is it possible to use a proxy server and FF to certain sites only or if you use a proxy server you have to use it for all sites visited? If I can use it for certain sites how would I set it up please?

You would have to modify the proxy server settings when you did and didn't want to use the proxy...

Basically... when you have a proxy server inplace, ALL traffic will flow out of that proxy when it's set, and vice a versa.

do you need a private or public proxy?

How many people will need this proxy to access the interweb?
