Recently, my computer has been considerably slower than it used to be, and it seems as if my programs have been requiring much more RAM than before. For example, Instant Messenger formerly used about 12-15kb RAM, and is now using over 50kb. One of my svchost.exe is constantly using over 20kb, (never used to be more than 10kb) and 5 others are over 3kb, etc. I don't imagine I have any viruses (Clean scan in safe mode command prompt only w/ McAfee 8.0), and I do not have any adware/spyware. I have 640MB of RAM, and am running XP. Does anyone have any idea why these programs have suddenly decided that they require twice as much RAM as they used to? Thanks
