problems with P2P

I have a cable internet connection. I can browse websites fine. However, I cannot connect on P2P programs. Such as, Kazaa, it always says "Connecting", I can never search or download. Same results on about 4 different P2P programs.
HELP!

are you using a firewall or behind a rrouter? if so, you must open the ports that Kazaa is using which i think 6669 or something, from the firewall or router so it doesn't get blocked.

yes he's right. open a port on your your router/ firewall and put that number into the settings for your p2p program.

That always happens to me when I have my firewall running, I jsut disable it for a sec, let it connect, then enable it again.
