problem with reinstall winxp

hi guys i've got a problem when i try to reboot my comp and try to reinstall my winxp
when it's up to the step " press any keys to boot from the CD" , then i pressed any key , then i shows the message" system is inspecting your computer harddrive's configuration" then that's it , it stops my screen now is absolutely black , no things more happen ,
can anyguys help me out thanks

i had this happen to me before too, got access to another pc? get a partition utility that u can boot from, and delete the partion on the hdd with your windows on it, then boot from your xp cd and it should work, thats what i ended up having to do. the program i used was called system rescue linux.

should i delete the watever recorded in master boot record by fdisk/mbr

just use the fdisk utility using a windows 98 oem bootdisk. Delete it, format it then try again. www.bootdisk.com
