Default Problem with reformatting XP

Hello peoples,
This is my first post and i'd like to say happy new years to all and help me fix my problem

So this is what happens. After inserting the xp disk, chooseing the new installation, and getting the pc to restart and enter the installation process, It won't let me delete the partition. It tells me that necessary temp files are on the partition and thus can't be deleted resulting in me not being able to reformat the hard drive. What do you tech guru's suggest i do?

P.S. I don't have a floppy drive.
