prob. installin win98se

Hi,
I am trying to install win98sealmost at the end of the process i get a warning window saying that hwin info gives a problem in the details it says that hwininfo.exe has a problem at o 167:0040 a06e
can anyone help me, howdo I get win installed or do i have a virus or so on my harddisk?

It might be that you have a bad sector or area on your hard drive that the OS is trying to write to. Someone might be able to give you info on how to check it without an OS installed. I only know Chkdsk.

could there be anything wrong in the bios?

Maybe. This is such an old OS that i dont remember much about the hwin errors. Try and see if there is a BIOS update that you can flash.
