Printer problem

Recently I bought my dad windows xp home. I have been installing it. I backed up our files, wiped the drive, installed xp, installed other software and drivers. But cant seem to get the printer to work like it should.

In control pannel where you add a printer or a fax, it gives me an error message when I try to add a printer:

Operation could not be completed. The printer spooler service is not running.

I try to run the printer drivers off the cd that it came with, it can install some of it but then give me an error message.

What do i need to do to fix this?

The printer is an epson stylus photo rx500.

Uninstall Print drivers
Are you sure, you have good drivers?

Uninstall it and install again if yes

The Drivers are good. It worked with windows me, but then we moved to xp home and we cant get them totaly instaled.

Make sure this is running and started on boot:

Start>run
type: services.msc

then rightclick and check its options.
