powerpoint .pps files

Hello

what is the difference between a .pps and .ppt file. is a .pps an embedded powerepoint or a compiled powerpoint slide.

i tried to open a .pps slideshow and i could only see the first page.

maybe one is editable as in the actualy .ppt file and the other is only viewable as a slide show?

i think the .pps file is not editable,

is there some way of making it editable
