Default possible hack?

Im looking at my GF's computer... the problem is that the computer was not used for a couple of days. The next day it was put to use everything is dissorted. Im looking at it and from the looks of it the screen resolution and color was changed to 4- bit. It doesnt have the option of changing it when i try. Any ideas on how to fix this. Thanks in advance.
