Please help...locking up question

For the last week, anytime I am on a page and click a link on that page, it locks my computer up for about a minute. After that minute, it goes back to the page you were originally looking at and will not pull up that link.... any suggestions? I am running
Windows XP and have turned off my firewall in case that had something to do with it.

Sounds like spyware, malware problem. Have you tried scanning for any of these problem. It could be browser hijacker too. What browser are you using? Have you tried switching to another browser?

use a mixture of symantec antivirus corporate edition (if u can) and ad-aware se
