I did not know that any xp had a problem with quads...

Ok. I'm running 2 gig now. all of the stuff that made it crash before isn't crashing now. hopefully this fixes it as xp only recognized one gig of that ram anyway. thanks you and everybody else that helped

edit. the computer is just as fast with ram in single channel mode. my 3d mark is 1241 and performance 6 plus is 828.
