I got that Internet Security 2010 virus mid January. While I put in another HD using XP home sp2 on it, I took out the 5 yr old 80gb WD caviar HD to a friend who clean it up real good.
Now I can't get to the My Documents and Desktop files. I have other HD's with the same problem. In the reading I've done they usually state to reset the security and permissions but I don't have that tab in folder or property options. I've messed with file share till I'm totally confused. Even the view hidden file/folders is on.
My friend took the HD yesterday and set the two folders permission to all users via WIN 7 and printed one doc I needed but that didn't help when trying to access with my comp.
I have the 80 gb hd in a USB external unit that usually houses disc drives etc. It worked at my friend's place very well.
I can see some shortcuts on the desktop folder but nothing else.
I can see many folders that are faint in color or not as bright/bold as the others.
I need files to work on my resume and get a job, please help.
