Default Performance issue with BIOS upgrade

I have a Asus A8V mobo with bios A8V-0226 running latest VIA K8T800 pro chipset. When I upgrade to A8V-0229 my system after reboot becomes very bogged down and slow.

Any ideas why?

system specs:
OS: WinXP Professional 5.1 SP2 (Build #2600) CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 2.35 GHz, 512KB Video: Radeon X800 PRO (1024x768x32bpp 75Hz) Sound: SB Audigy Audio [7800] Memory: Used: 644/1536MB Uptime: 4h 7m 31s HD: Free: 412.95 GB/587.32 GB Connection: Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC - Packet Scheduler Miniport @ 100.0 Mbps (Rec: 193.77MB Sent: 96.60MB)

thought was a good move to do to have latest stuff. Guess old saying applies "if it aint broke why fix it". Dont see why it would be corrupt as i tried bios 0228 & 0229 2x each. All same results

keep in mind...when you upg bios, your settings get defaulted to whatever the manufacturer sets it as. You may need to redo to your liking, if you tinkered with it
