Unhappy pc restarts when mp3 is played

im not shure if this should go here or in the multimedia section, but just resently ive bought a new 5.1 surrround sound system for my computer and so ive been listening to music allot but in the last 2-3 days when i try to play an mp3/wma with windows media player 11(x64 version) my computer restarts as soon as the mp3 loads(less than a second into playing it) the only way ive been able to fix this so far is to use the registry cleaner function of ccleaner then to reinstall windows media player every single time i want to play music.
does anyone know how i could permanantly fix this problem?

um, get another media player?

http://winamp.com/

or

http://www.musikcube.com/page/main/screenshot

Not sure if they'll work with Win x64 though.
