hi, I was having issues with my yahoo mail account because I couldn't change my password so I called yahoo customer support I received from google search. I was talking to them and the csr said they have been receiving 1000's of calls on these issues. He used logmein software to gain access to my PC and went into event viewer and looked at the following errors:

The Peer Name Resolution Protocol cloud did not start because the creation of the default identity failed with error code: 0x80630801.

The Peer Networking Grouping service depends on the Peer Name Resolution Protocol service which failed to start because of the following error:
%%-2140993535

The Peer Name Resolution Protocol service terminated with the following error:
%%-2140993535

He said it looked like someone hacked into my yahoo account and had access to my PC as well. He then went into command prompt and typed in netstat -f

and showed me the following info:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

C:\Users\John>netstat -f

He replied see how it says foreign address

I replied yes then he said that means you have been hacked from over seas.

My question is should I believe him? As soon as he said that I rebooted my PC coz I thought it was him trying to do something with my PC.

Am i correct in thinking this?

thx

It's a good thing you disconnected.

The netstat -f command specifically is used to display foreign addresses! A foreign address is just the address at the other end that your computer is connected to.

I'm sure you were being scammed as I don't believe Yahoo CSRs would ever ask for Logmein access to your computer.

Check out what Yahoo says about how to tell if you are actually dealing with them: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&y=PROD&locale=en_US&id=SLN6349&impressions=true

Hope you didn't provide any info like a credit card # or a phone number because you may find an unauthorized charge appear.
