What is the safest way to add a partition to a drive without formatting? I've got a new system so I don't want to reformat, but I want to create a storage partition on a 160gb drive.

A free utility would be great, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Hello,

I would recommend Symantec PartitionMagic 8. However it's not free...but it is incredibly easy to use and does the job perfectly.

I don't know of any free utilities for partitioning   ...

we need more detail. is you using the whole drive as a storage drive or do you already have windows on it already?

you can use the xp cd to partition in the first case

Sorry...this is the primary HD with Windows already installed. I'll eventually put a seperate HD in it, but since the primary is 160gb, I'd like to use some of that space as a seperate partition.
