Partition a hard drive that already has a windows instalation on it

I plan to dual boot Windows Vista (I can't afford 7) and Mac OS X. My laptop already has Vista installed. Can I shrink the partition windows occupies and create a new partition for Mac OS, or will I just have to back everything up and reformat my HDD?

Sorry but Apple OS X can't be installed on anything but Apple hardware. It is against their Terms of Use and that makes it illegal which makes it against our site rules to support.
