Default paging file

ive got an intel p4 2.8ghz, and ive got 1.5 gig of ram (266mhz each) so what paging file shud i have? i set it really high like near 4000 thinking it wil go faster but ive just read that it makes it slower because it uses more of the hard drive. can someone recommend a paging file size? thanks

There's a lot more to a paging file than just the size, it's the location too. You should really have the page file on it's own partition. Typically, you want to have the page file be initially set at 1.5 times the RAM you have. The maximum should be set at 2x the amount of the initial size.
