Torvalds was contemptuous of Microsoft's claims and has asked Redmond to name the patent infringements so that their veracity can be challenged and workarounds found.
"Naming them would either make it clear that Linux is not infringing at all (which is quite possible, especially if the patents are bad), or would make it possible to avoid infringing by coding around whatever silly thing they claim,"

"So the whole 'We have a list and we're not telling you' should tell you something. Don't you think that if Microsoft actually had some really foolproof patent, they'd just tell us and go, 'nyaah, nyaah, nyaah!'?"

a·sys·tem·at·ic (-sst-mtk) or a·sys·tem·ic (s-stmk)
adj.
Not specific to one system or set of organs; not systematic.

Windows Vista will be like XP. It will have a OEM version jsut like XP and it will be jsut like XP as it will have Full versions and upgrades.

It will be like OS X that it will NOT install on Intel Macs. Even with Boot Camp. It will be specific to PC's only.

the only reason i'm asking is because an asymmetric OS uses only one core in a multicore cpu to run itself; all the instructions and threads relating to the OS will be processed by one core, so it leaves the other core (or other 3 cores when quad-core comes out) free to do applications. and since most games today can only take advantage of one core, an asymmetric setup seems to be more efficient bcuz a highend game can use the full potential of a processor without having to share resources with the os. i'm not sure about this theory but it seems to make sense at the moment. and of course a symmetric OS is an OS which uses all cores evenly just to operate itself.
