Default which os is the best?

I have windows xp home edition sp2 but i am getting a new computer and need another operating system so what should i get? I was thinking about windows 2000.
I have windows xp pro but none of my games work on it.

All games that work on Home Edition also work on Pro. If not there's something wrong with your system.

are they old dos games? if they wont run under xp, use the compatibility mode for an older os

Windows 2K, for some odd reason, has a lot less security holes in it then XP does. Microsoft insereted a lot of security threats when it produced XP. I have aslo been told that security threats are a Microsoft phonemena. I have been told that Linux doesn't have security holes like Microsoft does. I have been told in the past two years there has been a sum total of three patches for Linux compared to the 120 for Windows there appears to be no contest from a security standpoint. I am seriously thinking of getting Linux pre-installed on my next computer.
