95% of all options available before getting to the desktop, Windows Defender (by reg entry), Windows update, and the usual from each install of WIndows I do.

Turn the service off. I typically never do WIndows updates so I don't need it on.

Switch the setting in Windows Update settings to not get updates from other systems over the internet...it's right in the settings within the GUI. No need to disable services / use 3rd party tools to change that option.

Ok so that fixes me not to mooch off other systems for updates. How would you stop others from mooching off of yours? Or does that turn my server off as well?

That also disable that.

Though I really like the P2P updates...makes updates go by very quickly so I'm not waiting on them to download from MS servers.
