Only day 2 and I need help !!!

Hello all I have a couple of questions that I,m sure somebody out there will know.
What is HDD & FDD?
I have to explain the terms system software & application software and give three examples of each.
Can somebody point me in the right direction of good sites to find all this info out, it would be really helpful to me.
P.S....I,m not asking for answers, I need to learn all this stuff, just some good sites would be wonderful.

application software = everything else e.g. word,excell,games etc
