Recently due to bizarre reasons, ie my entire c drive turned itself into mush leaving d drive intact (see operating sys loss topic further on in this forum) .. i had to reformat and once more C is working *yay* ..

but..
since i managed to retain d drive intact, C wont recoqnize any of the software applications on it (d drive) especially irritating if i want to use the remove/add software facility on control panel.

so simple question:


why?

and though i can uninstall some of the software applications on D, i cannot do them all unless i manual delete directories - icky untidy..

That's normal, because you formatted the registry entries are gone. Most program won't work. You will just have to delete the folders and re-install them.
