Ntfs permissions

i need to get data from several user acounts in ntfs the os is XP Home
but some of the accounts had passwords and file permissions on them i tried to slave the hard drive in another xp machine but it didnt work.I also reinstalled XP Pro but that didnt work. Anyway i could get those files using linux or some 3rd party software.

Do you have access to any admin account on that HDD?

if you are an admin on a machine, and attach another drive to it, all you need to do it take ownership of the whole drive, and you will have access to all the data, as long as none is encrypted.
