NTFS Issues?

I'm considering a new position/job. But I have a question. I'm still relatively new to the tech world (couple years general experience). All of the points in the job description I feel I'm more than qualified to meet except this one. Maybe...

It reads:

Also providing day to day support on NTFS issues (NTFS is the standard file system of Windows NT, including later versions Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista).

It sounds to me like this is written by a non-tech trying to describe that they need general Windows support too. Is this right? Or is there a whole sect of just being an NTFS support specialist?

I know, about the position, that if I join the team, it will only be me and two other persons providing the IT support. So it seems a bit of a stretch to think they have a person just working on file system issues detached from normal Windows support.

What say you?

It sounds to me like an overstating of qualifications to try and weed out prospective employee's before they even apply. Don't worry about that part of the description, send them your resume and go for the job. I work in an IT department that includes me, a developer, and our boss, and the job description that I answered was filled with stuff that I didn't know about, like GIS Services, etc. If your first interview is with an HR person and not the IT people, and they ask you about NTFS, BS your way through the question because I garantee you you know more than the HR guy does, and if the IT team asks about it, tell them what you know but let them know your strengths lie elsewhere.

Yes it is a non-tech writing that job description. If you are applying for a semi-large firm tech people DO NOT write out the job descriptions and functions of peronnel, the HR department does.

They say NTFS systems because that encompases every microsoft system that is used in the business world today. So in saying NTFS, they are pretty much just making a blanket statement about what you have to support (covering their butt).

You both are an excellent help. You've confirmed exactly what I thought and what I thought I should do in handling it. Thank you very much.
