Default Ntfs/fat32

I know NTFS and FAT32 are both different file systems, and I also know NTFS is the newer one, and considered better.

What I don't know is, why, and the pros and cons of each one. Could someone enlighten me?

also in NTFS you can compress files while in FAT32 you can't
