Not a valid text layer???

i tried to open a file of mine that i had previously worked on, on a different pc, using photoshop. It is a .psd file and when i try to open it, a window pops up saying "could not complete your request becasue the layer is not a valid text layer"???
what do i do? thanks

i tried it, but i need the same thing for version 8, can't find it for version 8
