not reading driver cd

Hi
I am running XP Home and a short while ago ran the recovery CD which came with my PC only problem is when I put the drivers & utilities CD in nothing happens,if I go into my computer and click on D drive it shows no CD. If I reboot leaving the CD in it still shows no CD in drive.
Can anyone help please ( in layman terms please I'm no expert )

can the drive read a different cd? or does this happen for all cds?

also, you could have used windriverbackup to save a copy of all drivers

No it does read some, also unable to copy to another CD(such as music)but it does load onto windows media

Go to the PC Manufacturers website. Search for your make and model and download the material that way.

you could try disconnecting and reconnecting the cables to the cd drive. you could check event viewer for clues on why the drive is not reading properly.

if these don't fix the issue, id say you have a faulty drive. Time to replace it.
