Default not letting program start up at the beginning..

hi...im a windows noob. is there anyway that i can stop the programs from launching at the start? some programs automatically starts at the start-up. and some apps dont even have the option to "uncheck" the "run at the start up". is there anyway in windows to stop it from launching? its very annoyng that i have 4-5 apps just opens at the start and i always close/quit em right after they r open....(like steam, TV tuner programs, etc..) pls help..

download hijackthis which can be found in downloads button at the top of this page. run a log and post.

opened it. searched and saved the back up. then unchecked the one i didn want to be opened. then restart the comp. and it worked. i guess its fine..right?

yea you should be ok now.....unless it self repairs...i hate those ones.
