not able to burn a CD...it says CD is not empty!

it was a disc problem...I tried with another brand and it worked.

I recommend checking to be sure it *is* empty. If you have previously attempted to write to the CD (whether it said it was successful or not) it could have written a little -enough that it is no longer showing up as empty to the burner.
