No sound on web

not really sure where to post this. but the problem is on my brothers laptop. he has no sound when streaming from the internet. the video works fine. but on things like youtube and web games, there is no sound. downloads, cds, mp3s they all play fine. i have reinstalled his flash player a few times,reset internet options, downloaded firefox and all had the same result no sound at all. he is running xp

Has he got shockwave installed? What about Java? HAve you got the most current Flash? HAve you got the latest sound drivers? Have you checked for the correct plugins for IE/Firefox?
