no sound

I just formatted, reinstalled everything just like I have done loads of time before but this time there is a problem with the sound. I have no trouble playing music using media player but when I log into other programs such as aol there is no sounds. Even if I try to watch a clip online there is the video but still no sound? All the sliders in the volume control are up at 100%. Any ideas?

What browser are you using? And make sure that you have the plugins installed. And do you get sound from like IM's and t hings like that?

im using IE 6 and the AOL. not getting anythnig from IM's either?

try this:
1. update your sound drivers
2. Look on the website for trouble shooters
3. go to your internet options and see if there is anything related to sound and make sure it goes to the right driver
4. go to your control panel and access the sound part. then make sure all of your settings are correct.
