I received my new laptop yesterday, no recovery cd or xp setup cd.

I did a backup like the acer recovery said to. On the CD drive i think the XP MCE installation is there.

These are the folders,

Acer, Book, CMPNENTS, DOCS, Documents and Settings, DOTNETFX, I386, Program Files, Support, Sysinfo, VALUEADD, WINDOWS

FILES: MCE.TAG, RHDSetup (txt file), Setup (txt file).

So i have a copy if anything happened like a crash or need to re-format.

Should i burn everything apart from the files and the folders - windows, program files and Documents and Settings?

Re:

Hello,

There's no need to backup the program files folder, documents and settings folder or windows folder.

All that is needed in order to be able to restore the laptop to factory condition is a set of Acer Recovery Discs, made using the Acer eRecovery program.

But of course, if you find you need to do a full recovery, then all your personal files would be lost. So then it would be wise to backup your personal data files (like any files in my documents, or anywhere else on the hard drive).

Hi, What i want to do is make a copy of the Windows XP Media Center Edition seperate.

Am i right in thinking to copy the tools, valueadd and i386 folders.
