Default new H-Drive + Xp disk?

ive been havin problems with my computer lately...pretty much i got a virus and its jsut eat up my comp like crazy...and i was wonderin if i could just buy a new h-drive and insert the windows xp disk and it will boot up automatically and i could just download xp onto the h-drive...does this work? becuase i know you can buy comps without OS's...can anyone help me out here?

yes you can put your xp disk in and install it on a new hard drive. but y would u buy a new hard drive, u should just format the hard drive you have and start with a fresh copy of windows.

i do i format the hard drive to start it over fresh?
do i have to insert the xp disk and bot it up and resart it....
or do i have to go somewhere on my computer and thes something i ogtta do?
