Unhappy networking xp with me/98

Recently tried to network computer xp with me. Problem, after running wizard to my ME, my computer does not respond to anything. I can't restore it, the disk from xp has installed something to this computer (files) that it does not like. Running the wizard to my 98 is a different problem. Does anyone have an ideal, what happens with an xp net wizard when applied to the ME program. All I want to do is share files and printer. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!
