Hello all,
I just installed windows xp proffessional onto my new hard drive.
I already have a working router.
The issue goes as follows:

Model: Compaq Presario R4000
I'll list as much here as I can to be specific for replies.
When I open the Network Connections it only shows:
Local Area Connection
1394 Connection

It does not show a wireless network connection option.
So I went through to try and find the device in the device manager.
Device manage shows:
Network Adapters:
1394 Net Adapter
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
Other devices:
Mass Storage Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
Network Controller
PCI Modem
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I tried installing new drivers for the realtek from their site but with no luck.

(This will even sound funny, but yes I tried pressing the wireless on connection button- no response)
Any suggestions?

Suggestion...
If possible clone your old hard drive to the new. If the old hard drive has a restore partition even better as you can then clean install. Either way you would restore all original drivers.
