Default Need to recover an NTFS partition

can anyone suggest a program I can use to recover an NTFS partition...

I had just finished moveing a bunch of info on to this hd and then pluged it into my computer... and it said the drive was corrupt or unreadable, but it will still read in dos...

EDIT: would partition magic work?

did that, it wont't read... as soon as I click start, the window just closes...

Edit: later, I used fdisk and deleted the partition (ntfs) and I am wondering if there is a program I could use to restore it...?

Try partition magic. I would suggest that you install that drive as a slave, if you haven't saved the data you recently loaded, and then use a recovery program such as Get Data Back, to recover and save the lost data. Sounds to me like theHD may have issues(fobarred!!).....and is soon to become a frisbee!!!
