Need help installing windows on new HD

Ok heres the deal. I just installed a new MB, cpu and a 120 gig HD. the HD I took out of another computer so i has windows and some other stuff on it. I bought brand new windows xp software but I cant install it because I need a boot disk that will let me boot to dos with cd-rom support.
I guess I may also need to format the HDD since it has stuff already on it. Right now I only get a black screen after the MB logo loads. So I'm at a loss to what i need to do at this point.

u shood b able 2 set the BIOS 2 boot from cd and then do a re-install

LOL...Thanks alot man... Its funny that sometimes people overlook the simple options and look at the more difficult technical solutions. I can't believe I didnt think of it. I might be chuckling all night.
