I think this falls under windows and software

I have this computer on a Novell network. Windows 98, it'll probably be gone in a year at most, but until then, It will have to work. I have norton corporate edition.

The problem is this,

The computer boots up fine, gets to the point of loading up novell client side, loads the GUI for login, about a second after load, it switches to a blue screen with a red box. The title is "NAV", and it says "Could not initialise the virus database" with an OK button. You hit enter, cause the mouse doesn't work, and it goes back to the default login screen, like nothing happened.

I dont know if the NAV stands for "Norton Anti-Virus" or "Novell anti-virus" or something like that.

I have updated Norton, and still get this box.

try uninstalling nortons and see if you can get access. After reinstall and see if problem continues.
