My PC has no audio

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and my monitor is HP w2207h which it comes with built-in speakers.

After a fresh Window installation, now my pc doesn't play any sound.

I checked the volume control and my monitor speaker, everything is enabled.

The sound card is SoundMax Digital Audio.

Can someone help?

What does it show in Device Manager ? Any error symbols like a white x with a red circle, or an exclamation point (yellow and black symbol)? You could go to the manufacturer's website and check for the latest drivers for your sound card.

I got it. I didn't plug the audio cable from the monitor to the pc.
