Hello

I have a problem with my browser, it is not recognising non-www domains.

e.g. news.bbc.co.uk gives

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at news.bbc.co.uk.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

& ie gives The page cannot be displayed ...

ditto for gmail.com

at the same time all the www. domains are accessible with no problems, e.g.

www.bbc.co.uk
www.tech-heaven.com

can you guys help me out?

Try to clear your cache, history, and cookies.

Use CCleaner it is the best app for this.

IF that still dont work, then unplug your modem (if cable) and router (if used). Let stand for a minutes or so. Then plug the router and modem back in. Even hit the reset button on the router. Should have one somewhere. That should reset all the devices back to factory default and should work.

you think it is a local problem

my browsers are playing havoc, soemtimes they let me get to a site, sometimes they dont

Well it could either be your router playing games. Mine has done that before or your ISP DNS doesnt upgrade right. But for the most part i just think its your router playing games.

i am trying to download ccleaner from
http://www.filehippo.com/download/f...364f10b8fa9f866a6136cc2bd822be5e7df029bf3a81/
and it came up with the same message

The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

could it be a virus on my system which is playing around with the browsers?

i took the risk with downloading an unknown file from an unknown guy :0

and have installed ccleaner, hopefully it should clean the crap

Well my last link was just the file hosted from my site. Run both the Cleaner and the Issues. That should help with both the crap on the PC but the crap that is in the registry that you dont need.

hey i used ccleaner and also turned off my machine and adsl modem for a few minutes but the problem is still there

now it is back to recognising www. domains and does not detect non-www domains :(

just managed to access news.bbc.co.uk but cant access gmail.com or www.gmail.com this time around.

you think it is my isp which is having problems?
even www.yahoomail.com is inaccessible

there goes news.bbc.co.uk again, however www.bbc.co.uk is still accessible.

surprisingly www.tech-heaven.com has had no problems

What router do you use? Have you tried to do any updates to the router or your system? What browser do you use?
