I tried it, and it didn't support Gmail, which is my main Email source, so I kinda went back to IE6, too bad.

OK, update, uninstalled, removed the registry files, re downloaded from GetFirefox.com (I did before too) and same thing, but no luck...
IE6 it is for the big clunk...

Opera 7.60 supports Gmail.

i had a similar problem, reinstalled java virtual machine and fixed the problem. hope it helps.

go to www.java.com for a newer version.

Java has alot of problems installing/un-installing.
I don't know if it fixes it but you can try installing it in a different folder.
