Every once in a while, my mouse cursor will freeze completely for a second or so. Before and after it will play the device connect/device disconnect sounds. I'm not sure if this is a software problem or a hardware problem. This is a custom built computer, and it is my first, so it might be a loose connection or something. It get's distracting when I'm playing games, since it leaves me vulnerable for a second while playing. Not a huge hindrance, but a minor annoyance anyway.

Sounds like a driver issue to me. Make sure you got the proper drivers for the mouse installed.

Is it a wireless Mouse ?
if it is : I had the same problem with mine and solved by using a better battery .. 1100mA rechargable ..

No it's a wired. I didn't know mice even needed drivers. Windows usually takes care of that automatically though, but I suppose I could look for a driver manually.

Well .. hmmm .. It may be a cable problem .. that happens too ..
Do you have another ? Did you try to use another mouse ?
If it is a PS2 Mouse : did happen that the mouse did not work and worked after restarting ?
