Default Motherboard software not being nice to my mic

Well my comp is up and running a-ok runs like a bat outa hell. But when i go on programs like ventrilo and teamspeak ( voice comm). I have to speak realllllly loud for my mic to pick up anything. I know its something to do with the software b.c the mic worked fine on my old comp. So im just wondering what settings i can play with to try and get this to work. Software is Realtek sound (gigabyte mobo) Realtek AC97 is the chip i guess...

Turn up the gain. You should be able to do that from the audio drivers. Just be careful that either a.) the sound is not output to any speakers near you, or b) you carefully increase said gain level. Feedback loops suck.
AGP won\'t fit in PCI-E... unless you use a really good hammer. ~Trotter
