monitor problem

i just bought a new 24 inch monitor (asus ve 245 lcd) and windows 7 wont take up the whole screen. Resolution is set at 1920X1080, i assume it would be the monitors driver? When i plug my comuter into my 40 inch lcd it works just fine. Tried restarting and updating driver with no luck and thats as far as my skills go...haha. Any suggestions?

so i just plugged in the vga cable and it fits the screen now? wtf? had hdmi in prior.. Anyone know why the hdmi cable would do that? Bought it from walmart but its sony cable and 40 bucks.

Are you sure you had set the resolution for the Widescreen monitor properly? Some monitors use 16:10 resolutions not 16:9 resolutions like TV's. Also you will have to restart after you switch it from the 40" to the 24" as the system doesnt know that you switched until then and still thinks it is outputting to the 40".

yes i did restart and i cant find where to see where it says 16:10 or 9
