My .mkv video files show up as 0 seconds long in Windows Media Player, but in Media Player Classic and Winamp they work fine, can anyone tell me is this an issue with WMP or are the codecs not fully compatible with WMP? I have that CC Codec Pack installed or w/e its called.

I think you can deal with this via K lite codec pack's configuration (you should install it first), I don't know about CC codec pack so I can't give any helpful information. However, you could simpy install a player like VLC (Freeware).

CCCP is good. But it doesnt have all the codecs needed. KLite is a good one as well as AC3Filter and the Vista Codec Pack. Yes it can be installed on XP as well.
