Yeah? I was asking what the hell he did to his PC so I could make a suggestion...

Does it matter how he got it? The question is how to fix it.

He played around on the Net without a firewall, without any antivirus, and without anything to detect spyware. Once he screwed it up good, he asked me to reformat and reinstall Windows for him.

It worked fine for a little while. But the disks that came with his Dell didn't include the chipset drivers, so his system started crashing when he started using it.

Then, he went back on the internet, crashing system and all, and got reinfected.

Look at this as an example of why firewalls, antivirus, and antispyware tools are absolutely a must have.
