am using microsoft outlook 2000 on a windows 98 OS. When I receive mail, a picture of an envolope appears in the system trey notifying me of new mail. After I open all new mail, the picture of an envolope remains in the system trey. The only way I can remove it is by rebooting. Any ideas as to what is causing this and what I need to do to resolve it? I appreciate all help.

Don't use outlook!
just take a non-M$ mail program (not because I hate M$, but because M$ mail programs aren't safe!)

I have some experience using outlook,

Generally, when you see the symbol its because you have received new mail. (if you want go thought the options menu and turn this feature off)
The symbol will only go away if you have read all you newly received messages. Also, if you double click on the envelope icon, it will direct you to all the newly received messages.

Are you using any filers (a filter is part of the program that will redirect incoming or out going mail) for your incoming mail? You might have messages coming in that you donÂ’t see.
