I am sort of getting somewhere, i have copied the two columns onto a new work sheet, and lined them up next to each other, i tried the conditional format but the problem i am having is that there is duplicates in one column, but i want it to determan if there is duplicates in the column next to it not in the same coloumn, if that make sense.

Remove the duplicates from each column first.
